"You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls."
~1 Peter 1:8-9
April was a full month as we worked on wrapping up some work projects before one of my teammates goes on home assignment. And April held a trip from my first visitor!
On our trip into South Sudan one of the video projects we were filming was "Our Prayer." It was a scripted video written by our teammate Tohru, filmed by Neil and myself and then Neil edited it together. The SIM South Sudan team has witnessed how God has moved in the country. They have traced his fingerprints across multiple generations. And they want to see the Lord proclaimed even further, where He is least known. We want God to transform South Sudan. God help us. That is our prayer. Please enjoy the video!
During our time in South Sudan, one of my main purposes for the trip was to be able to spend time with Biu and see her work amongst the women in the refugee camps. She spends her days visiting with the women, leading bible studies, and most importantly building relationships. A big part of me coming on this trip was because, as a woman I would have an easier time filming the bible study because the woman would be more comfortable with me around. It was incredible being able to spend time with them and I felt so welcomed. After filming I was able to go share tea and coffee with them at one of their homes and this time in community with them is one I will never forget. This is a video that I edited and Neil and I filmed about the discipleship work going on in South Sudan.
Every year SIM Kenya has their Spiritual Life Conference and ours this year was at the beginning of April. It is a 4 day conference where all of SIM Kenya is able to come together for a time of worship, prayer, and community. Since SIM Kenya is very spread out all the missionaries don't get a lot of opportunities to be together so this was a great time of fellowship and hearing how God is working in each of the ministries.
April brought my first visitor to Kenya! After almost a year I was able to spend 10 days sharingKenya with my best friend Carolyn. This time was so full and getting to share a place and peoplewho have become such big parts of my life with someone so close to me was incredibly special. Wewent on game drives, visited the office, shared meals with families, made new friends, and exploredsome places I hadn't gotten to see yet! It was such a refreshing time for me as I came up on a yearaway, so to have time with Carolyn and share so many experiences with her was wonderful.
As I announced in my last newsletter there is a plan in motion for me to go to Nigeria to film 4-5different projects with them. I've been working with the team there for the last few months to develop the stories and plan out how to best use my time there. In order to go to Nigeria and stay in Kenya until the end of November I need to raise an additional $7,000. As I continue in my preparation I hope you would prayerfully consider supporting me as I plan my trip and extend my time in Kenya!
