May Update

"but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint."

~ Isaiah 40:31

HABARI! (HELLO)

Greetings from Kenya!

While I have only been here a few weeks, I feel as though I have settled in very quickly! The first week was filled with orientation activities to help me get familiar with the culture, city and all the people I will be working with!

Everyone here has been incredibly welcoming and helping to make Nairobi feel like home. For my time here, I will be living on the Rose Compound with my housemate and fellow media team short-termer, Danielle. On the compound we are blessed to be surrounded with many of the long-term missionaries and their families! It has been a fun, vibrant community to get to know and with all the kids running around, there is certainly no shortage of fun to be had!

One of the interesting things I'm learning is that Kenyans value relationship over task. I'm enjoying settling into a new pace of life and very much enjoying the relationship building that has already been taking place!

Work Updates

In just my second week here, I was able to assist with filming a short testimonial video for Banda Health. They are an organization that works to improve Health IT to enable good healthcare in the midst of poverty.

I am also editing an event recap video for the passing of the baton that occurred with one of the SIM missions, Life Challenge Africa. After 30 years of serving with this ministry, the two leaders felt God's call to pass the baton and take time to see where God is leading them next.

Fun Moments

While there has been lots of work to dive right into, I've also had some opportunities to explore more of what Kenya has to offer! I had the chance to visit the elephant orphanage in Nairobi. I was also able to get out of the city, see some of the Rift Valley and go zip-lining!

Asante (Thank You)

I wanted to say THANK YOU again in supporting me in this journey. I have been blown away by the support I have received and I am incredibly excited about what this next year will hold!
