“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

~Isaiah 43:19

Nigeria Video 1

This is a scripted piece that I worked on alongside my SIM Stories teammate, Tohru. In his writing he beautifully captured SIM Nigeria’s heart and vision for serving in a “hard place.” It is an excellent reminder that sometimes missions work isn’t what we think it will be with seeing churches planted, lives transformed, healing, instead sometimes it’s removing barriers so that the next generation can plant seeds.

Nigeria Video 2

I had the privilege of spending time with many doctors, nurses, surgeons, all with the same heart to use medicine as a way to reach out to those who need more than just medical care, they need compassion.

I got a close-up look at how medical missions can be used in many forms, from teaching to surgery, all of it has capacity to impact so many lives. I loved getting to capture these moments, and see firsthand how much God is doing through this ministry.

Nigeria Video 3

This video at the beginning felt like a bit of a challenge to me. I had to figure out how to share what three ministries were doing, and find a way to unify them. From working with widows, to children, to young women that have been rescued from prostitution and drug abuse, these stories all have a thread that weaves them together. They all share SIM’s mission and vision of reaching the unreached and caring for those in our communities that are most vulnerable.

It was a gift for me to spend time with all three of these ministries. I saw the joy these communities have created for one another. I also heard countless stories of pain and difficulty, and yet in all of the stories I heard words of hope. The people I spoke to have faced true horrors of the world, but spoke with such conviction of hope. It was truly inspiring.

Nigeria Video 4

This was the bonus 6th video that wasn’t on the list and we weren’t supposed to have time for. Yet, God made a way. I connected so well with the other short-termers while in Nigeria and so to be able to pull this off in the final few days of my trip was special. I was even able to finish a rough cut of the video while in Nigeria so all the short-termers could watch it together before two of them headed home. What a gift to be part of telling their story of how God has used their time in Nigeria.
